Message de Gorbachev à Europe for Peace

Dear friends

8487c9d6ccdbdeed423e359fa1317bb8.jpgI welcome your initiative to draw attention of the European public to the danger of return of Nuclear threat to the European soil. In this year that marks the 20th annivesary of the signature of the historic INF Treaty that eliminated the extremely dangerous US and Soviet euromoissiles from the continent it is important to remain vigilant and actively resist any plans of making Europe once again hostage to the fear and prejudice characteristic of the Cold War

Noam Chomsky signs the Europe for Peace Declaration

Noam Chomsky, Institute Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, has signed the Europe for Peace Declaration. Professor Chomsky has already been supporting the "No to the Bases" initiative taking place in the Czech Republic with similar aims on a national level.

Below is the statement of professor Chomsky that accompanied his signature:

"Over half a century ago, Bertrand Russell and Albert Einstein issued a plea to the people of the world to face the fact that we have a choice that is "stark and dreadful and inescapable: Shall we put an end to the human race; or shall mankind renounce war?"
The threats are increasing in severity. Europe is uniquely well-placed to undertake the historic mission of saving the human race from self-destruction."
